                  The Maltese Club of Scotland Ch Show 6 October 2023

I was delighted when I learned that this Club had been granted CCs for the first time and even happier when I learned that I was the lucky judge chosen to officiate at this momentous event. 

The venue  of the Village Hall in Tarbrax is ideal, ample car parking with an  excellent ring and floor covering in a bright, well lit hall.  The lunch was excellent, the raffle mouth wateringly excessive and the atmosphere was one of sheer enjoyment and camaraderie. And I was so well looked after with Dick Morrison as my steward.!!

The breed is not over endowed with numbers of Scottish  exhibitors but   the atmosphere was one of happiness and enjoyment.

With this small band of such keen enthusiasts I am sure the Club's future is positive. On this performance their success is assured.

Vet D or B (3) 1st & BV Jenning's Stormcloud Destiny at Churchchis this glamourpuss put on a real show with confidence, style and such a positive, free stride as she circled the ring with a degree of elan. In super coat which was flawless in presentation. Her head is so balanced, the eyes alive and expressive and she is so compact in body with well sprung ribs.  2nd Grant & Walker's Ch Travilla Chic And Petite With Linmont and old favourite of mine and she wears her 11 years well. Has retained that quality head and expression, the darkest of eyes and uses her decent neck so well on the stack.  Just that tad longer cast than the winner and whilst sound, not quite the joi de vivre of the Destiny.  3rd Poskitt's Snowkai's Te Amo

MPD(1) 1st & BP Flannigan & Dornan's Snow Storm quite a promising youngster with a well balanced head, ample strength in foreface, expressive eyes and good head carriage. In excellent coat, his topline is firm. Could have a tad more bend of stifle and whilst his profile action is balanced, he just needs to settle a bit in front.

LD(1) 1st Flannigan & Dornan's Snowkai Proclaimer such a well coated  and presented lad. Pleasing head, very expressive eyes, I would like a tad more length in muzzle, enough neck firm backline and a well set and carried tail. Shown in lovely coat and he was at his best on the move where he showed reach and drive in profile.

OD(3/1) CC & BOB Jackson's Benatone Glint of Gold , immaculate, never put a foot wrong. Loved his size, such a cobby well ribbed body, spirit level back and uses his decent neck to full advantage on the stack. As always from this exhibitor, perfectly schooled whether stacked or moving where he covered the ground with reach and drive. Add a head oozing Maltese charm and you have a deserved ticket winner.  I believe this makes him up.  Well done.!!!  2nd & Res CC Balfour's Whitefairy Angel U's Handsome As Hell With Suncube (Imp Rus) what's in a name?!!! I loved the head and expression on this very handsome chap. Super foreface, eyes to melt any Maltese lover's heart, well pigmented so well bodied and nicely angulated hindquarters. Ample neck, played his handler up a tad when moving and not quite the coat finish of the winner today but surely his time will come. Certainly an air of quality. 

MPB(1) 1st Balfour's Suncube Meet Me At Midnight a real poppet but quite a handful to get to move out!! Delightfully feminine head and such an endearing expression from the darkest of well shaped and so alive eyes. She has a decent neck, a decent spring of rib and is compact in body.  Not over keen on the rubber mat surface so her movement lacked enthusiasm and drive but when she overcomes that she should do well.

 PB(1) 1st & BPB Jenning's Benatone Isabella  a very sweet headed little charmer with a beautiful expression.  Neat ears frame that face well, sufficient reach in neck. excellent backline and carried her tail well.  In excellent coat she never really settled on the move, having a stop/start day.!!But she has charm!

PGB(1)1st Grant's Snowkai Perfect Sky at Linmont a quality bitch with much to like. Presented in excellent bloom, she is big enough for me but is still very feminine in head and expression, has sufficient weight in foreface, excellent pigmentation, decent neck and rock firm backline to a well set tail . Tad longer in loin that I like but she moved out well around the ring

LB(1) 1st & Res CC Kiziuk & Gallagher's Tauro Herbeta for Magicmaltie (Imp) an ultra feminine package with a most delightful head and an expression defies you not to admire her!  Compact in body lovely spring and depth of rib,  firm backline and with a decent bend of stifle.  Her jacket was well groomed and she  has such a good front in action.  Not quite the rear drive in profile action as the CC winner but she certainly has quality. 

OB(2/1)   1st & CC Jackson & Rycraft's Ch Benatone Love Affair unsurprised to read that she is a Champion. The quality in head and expression - then add that superior air & the shape when stacked. Immaculate coat texture and presentation, then the reach and drive and  assuredness of stride as she circled the ring with such a lightness of foot - and you have a winner!
