Judging: Gordon Setter, Gundog Group

My thanks to the committee of LKA for inviting me to have the opportunity of awarding CCs in Gordons for the first time. Thanks also to the chief steward for creating an extra ring for us to enable judging to start sooner and to our ring steward who held the whole thing together with her efficiency. My thanks, too, to the exhibitors who entered and accepted my placings with grace. I was delighted to have the opportunity to handle so many beautiful exhibits. Thank you

Class 2342 MPD (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 7512 SMITH, Mrs Carol Glenmaurangi Apollo at Glenkinchie

Good size puppy, stood alone. Rather at the leggy stage and a little uncoordinated but very promising, with a lovely well chiselled head, darkest of eyes and gentle expression. He really enjoyed his day out and was a confident, bouncy, boy in the ring.

Class 2343 PD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

As in MPD

2nd: 7469 DONALD, Mrs Fiona Lourdace Last Hurrah to Lochansvue
Another lovely pup of good height, well muscled and strong, about right for his age. He had a lovely head, kind expression lean neck and good flat shoulder bone. A little straight in the stifle and was very proud of his tail! Well balanced for age

Class 2344 JD (3 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 7521 WILLIAMS, Mrs Elizabeth & WILLIAMS, Mr Barry Longrow Jean Genie
Smallish dog but well balanced and confident. Correct shaped head with good low ear set, nice tan. Good bend of stifle and correct tail carriage which he carried well on the move. Would just like a bit more of him.

2nd: 7462 COVE-PRINT, Mrs G M Colourbox Wild Oats
Bigger dog than 1. Well bodied and good muscle tone. Has a lovely head with melting dark eyes. He lacked in confidence and this affected his movement with his tail tucked in, preventing him to flow as well as 1. As he becomes bolder I am certain he will do well in the ring.

Class 2345 YD (5 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 7461 COLLINS-PITMAN, Mrs Jean & COX, Mrs L & LOAKES, Mr Amscot Air Apparent
Well bodied and muscular dog, super balanced movement, lovely shoulder placement and good strong rear end which gave him real drive around the ring. Nice head shape with good stop, low earset and dark eyes, not overdone in any way.

2nd: 7472 FUDGE, Ms Corinne L Fieldberry Secret Weapon At Rufusmoor JW
Larger dog but well balanced, again a lovely head and good reach of neck. In good coat and well presented, moved with confidence covering the ground with ease.

Extremely well muscled strong dog. He has a beautiful and typical Gordon head with dark melting eyes and soft expresion. Nice and short in the muzzle with correct depth of flew. lovely low ear set and lean neck. Well presented and moved at one with his handler, one to watch as he matures.

2nd: 7480 HOGG, Mrs Faye & HOGG, Mr Andrew Gailiech Ngalyod
Finer dog, well muscled but would like to see him carrying more weight for a three year old. He is a nice balanced shape and looked great in profile, again correct dark eyes, good teeth and lovely head shape. He moved really well and another that was in tune with his handler.

1st: 7454 BELL, Mrs N & MILLAR, Mrs A & BELL, Miss S Balnakeil Beinn Corradail of Blairbelles
This is a much bigger dog than I would normally choose, he is strong well muscled but so beautifully put together and very light on his feet for his size as he powered around the ring using his tail to it's full advantage. He has a great bend of stifle that really helped drive him along. A very handsome boy indeed.

2nd: 7487 JOHNSTON, Mr Paul & JOHNSTON, Mrs Linda & JOHNSTON Ludstar Maccabee at Glenquin (Imp) It
A mature dog that stood out, he was well presented with beautiful shining black coat. He looks to be a strong and well muscled dog, he has good bone and confirmation and moved around the ring with ease.

What a stunning boy, again bigger than I would usually go for but he is so well put together. Exceeds in strength and muscle. He exuded confidence and almost floated round the ring. (I would perhaps like to see him move a bit slower) He has a beautiful flowing coat in excellent condition. Good bend of stifle, second thigh muscle and nice straight hocks. Very light on his feet and covered the ground well. Delighted to award him CC which I understand now gives him the all important 3 and BOS

2nd: 7478 HALLIDAY, Ms M J Yennadon Barra SGWC JW
Smaller dog than 1. but again well muscled and in good coat. Lovely shoulder placement, good spring of rib, level topline leading into a nice tail set. Moved with drive and enthusiasm. A good honest Gordon. RCC

This has to be the hardest class of the day and each entry was worthy of a place. This was again a bigger girl than I would normally like but well balanced both standing and moving, which she did with real drive from strong rear muscled legs. Pretty head and long feathered ears. Very dark eyes. Well coated but the body underneath did not disappoint. RCC

2nd: 7507 PHILLIPS, Mrs A & WATKINS, Ms Tereza Sh Ch Flaxheath Top Model At Glenmaurangi
A real favourite of mine, Finer and smaller girl than 1.  so stylish and elegant on the move, really free flowing and moved at the right pace to accentuate her correct drive and movement. Just felt she was not quite as on form today.
