Richmond General Championship Dog Show

I would like to thank the Richmond committee for inviting me to judge their Championship Show this year as it is always a privilege to be asked and thankyou to my two lady Stewards.

Ring 3 was unfortunately very uneven with ditches in places which made standing a little difficult and that was just for me !! plus the heavy rain pouring off the tent edge made it a little unsettling for the Danes so unfortunately they weren’t seen at their best moving out of the tent. Again, I was pleased to see that all the ‘ Danes ‘ had well covered bodies, ( that’s my preference ), ie. no ribs showing and looked the part. Even though the entry wasn’t large, all were of a good quality, thankyou.

1st – S. Tempest ( Handling for Ms Palmer ): 

Adoreadane Charlton ( AI ).

Harlequin, sharp contrast in black & white, pleasing head planes, clean neck and shoulder lines with a clean front and good width of chest, good spring of rib with short close elbow, well muscled thigh and good rear angulation with a low set hock, a little vary initially when moving out of the tent because of the heavy rain but then settled.

1st – Chappell Ms L & Mr A:

Ch Selmalda Jealous Guy ( AI )

Brindle, a big solid boy, level parallel head planes, dark eye, clean neck and shoulder, square drop of lip, well filled front and chest, deep brisket with a short close elbow, good rear angulation, well muscled thigh with low set hock, moved well and thoroughly deserves the vast amount of wins, a grand example of our breed, presented a lovely overall picture when standing and moving. DCC & BOB then went on to win 4th Working Group, in this big ring, he moved out as he should with drive.

2nd – Miss J. Cranfield: 

Ch Zefather’s Ralph Lauren JW Shcex Osw.

Fawn, good head planes, level and square, dark muzzle and eye, clean neck and shoulder, with good chest width and spring of rib, level top-line, good rear angulation with well muscled thigh and low set hock, moved well and looked good, another fine example of our breed and no doubt these two will change places throughout the year, pleased to award him the RDCC.

Vanmore Easy Come Easy Go.

Dark Brindle, 10 ½ months, sweet looking little girl, very elegant, good head profile and front view, square drop pf lip, dark eye, clean neck and shoulder line, good size bone, tight feet, level top-line ample good chest width, close elbow, good rear angulation, moved well and looked good, she should have a good future. Best Puppy.

Novavida Livin The Dream

Black 17 months, deep colour, level head planes, dark eye, clean neck and shoulder lines, ample depth of brisket and chest width, tucked in elbows, adequate rear angulation, well covered body, looked happy with herself and moved well.

Yearling Bitch:            Entries 1:

1st – Mr M. Stanton 

Goldanius Diva Princess.

Fawn, nearly 18 months, good head shape, dark eye, square drop of lip, tight feet, alert expression, good bone size, shoulder and top-line good, well covered body with spring of rib, well muscled thigh and good rear angulation, moved well, will carry on doing well.

1st –Miss J. Cranfield

Zefather’s Kind of Magic JW

Fawn, looked good, square body profile, good front width, clean neck & shoulder, close elbow, good depth of brisket & spring of rib, strong thigh muscle, good rear angulation and hock set, moved well and gave a good overall picture, pleased to award her the RBCC.

2nd – Ms L. Page & Mrs T. Concannon

Novavida Purple Calla Lily JW

Black, judged her nearly 2 yrs ago and same comments apply except she has matured now 

good head profile, clean neck and shoulder, ample width of forechest, good bone, level topline on the move, good rear angulation and thigh muscle.

1st – Mr & Mrs Clark: 

Ch Garsak Summer Days at Mintrex. Another one I judged nearly 2 yrs ago and gave her the RCC on that occasion from Junior and is continuing with a long line of wins. She has now matured into a lovely femine Great Dane, and my critique remains fairly similar to then, lovely head planes from front and profile, dark eye, clean elegant neck into good shoulder, good width of chest and front angulation, close and short elbow, moved well with a level topline, creates a lovely picture, thoroughly deserved the BCC.

2nd – Mr L Morgan Evans

Vanmore Spill The Beans

Fawn, another lovely girl, a little longer than 1, good head planes, dark eye, square lip, dark muzzle, clean neck and shoulder, well muscled thigh, good rear angulation, vertical low set hock, moved well and pushed hard for RCC. 

3rd – Mrs L. Collet.
