Richmond Championship Show

8th September 2023

Weimaraner

Judge – Mrs Jane Eyeington (Meadowdale)

I would like to thank the committee of Richmond Championship Show for the honour of judging this lovely breed. Thank you to my two stewards who did a sterling job. But most of all to the exhibitors, who braved the M25 on a Friday and the hot and humid conditions, hats off to you for showing your super dogs so admirably. The weather and the slight slope to the ring may have played a part in the performance of some of the dogs and therefore placings. Very much enjoyed my day, with some close choices – Thank you x.

Lovely way to start the breed judging. A very smart and top quality puppy dog, coming up 9 months of age. For one so young he presents a beautiful outline, aristocratic in his bearing, but with a hint of cheekiness and that elusive sparkle. Well made all through, masculine head, flowing through his topline, good depth and substance, well angulated fore and aft. Yes, he was a little puppyish on the move, as he was having fun, but as sound as a pound. Destiny has great things for him. Delighted to award him RDCC & BPD & BPIB – Lovely to see that he went onto top the Puppy Gundog Group - congratulations.

Another smart youngster, but not quite as together as MPD at present. His shape and balance are all there, I liked his overall stamp and outline when stood, just needing time to all come together, and at only 10 months of age he has plenty of that. Good length and balance to his masculine head, brisket is down to the elbow, with a good length to the ribcage. Not as firm in his topline today, lovely hindquarters which he used to drive around the ring, just needing to tighten a little more.

1st: 1584 PORTER-MANNING, Mrs Angela & PORTER, Mr G WALLAROO KYNKI BOOT
Took a little while to settle but once he did, this 14 month old dog presents a pleasing outline on the stack, giving the impression of strength yet also elegance. He has good overall substance and quality bone. Balanced head piece of good length, long ears with the slight fold, and correct eye. Strong neck of good length, deep in brisket and well filled in forechest. Holding a firm topline both stood and on the move. Strode out nicely once settled.

2nd: 1596 SUETT, Mrs Melissa Silberliss Peckham Pouncer
15 month old dog with much to commend him, not quite the substance of winner as yet, but still presents a balanced silhouette. He has an appealing head, with such a gentle expression. He has a nice flow to his topline, enough depth, not quite the forechest of winner. Strong, wide, and well-muscled hindquarters. Holding his outline well in profile, just a little loose in front today

2nd: 1564 FILBY, Ms A BROWN & Mr C DESJIEM BILLY DONT BE A HERO JW
Pleasing overall shape, proportions and size on this 20 month old dog, but still looking a little raw at present. Noble head and expression, muzzle of good length and clean. He has enough depth but not quite the forechest of winner. Nicely boned limbs and compact feet. Today seeming to lose his topline a little. Strong hindquarters, which he put to good on the move.

Class 712 LD (3 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1565 HAWKINS, Mrs Tina & HAWKINS, Mr Alan Smilek Fernando JW
Powerful and muscular 4 year old dog, who has substance all through and well off for bone. Masculine head, nicely balanced with a good length to the foreface and long leathers framing his face. Strong neck, flowing into a firmly held topline, deep in brisket with ribs carried well back. Wide strong quarters in super muscle tone and well bent stifle. Showed himself off well on the move, with drive from the rear whilst holding his outline.

2nd: 1558 BRAINE, Miss J ANSONA DREAM BIG
2 year old dog, from a different mould, a fraction more compact in his outline. Not quite the overall balance of winner. He has a pleasing head, of good type, nicely proportioned, well shaped eye, strength to the foreface and a kind expression. Strong neck, deep in brisket and very well developed forechest, well sprung ribcage and muscular through the body. Strong and powerful rear, with a lovely width of thigh, and short hock to heel. Moving out soundly, just tending to lose his topline a little today

Class 713 OD (6 Entries) Abs: 1

I was very taken with this 2 year old dog, not a big lad, but so well put together. When stood he shows the correct body proportions and has beautiful poise. He just flows from nose to tail, with quality in abundance, solid and muscular all through. Clean cut head, nicely balanced with an air of importance about him. His body is well developed with a good forechest, depth to the brisket, solid firm topline, strong hindquarters with well developed musculature. So clean and sound on the move, with good width and parallel behind, showing extension in front, his gait in profile he just flowed around the ring. Pleased to award him DCC & BOB

2nd: 1587 RAZZELL, Mrs C & HAZELTINE, Miss C & CROWTHER, Mr Sh Ch HUNDWITH CHECKMATE of COROTINE JW

Of a different stamp to winner, being built on a larger frame but still has elegance and finesse to give an aristocratic look. An upstanding dog with real presence. Liked his overall proportions and flow. Masculine head, with the correct eye shape and colour, well placed ears to give a kind and intelligent expression. Good length of neck, firm topline, well boned limbs onto tightly arched feet. Well developed through the body and nicely angulated fore and aft. Moving out soundly.

Previously 3rd in Junior dog, and now starting to settle. He is only 15 months so has time on his side. He presents a shapely silhouette, just needing to finish filling into himself. Masculine head with a good length to the foreface, Brisket is down to the elbow, stands on well boned limbs, today tending to lose his topline a little. Well bend stifles and a good width of thigh. A nice profile action just needing to firm up in front a little more.

Class 716 MPB (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1580 MORRIS, Mrs T Kalimor Tinker
Lovely, elegant bitch, just coming up 7 months of age. I can see lots of potential as she has a lovely outline and holds herself well. Still very raw as you would expect but very smart. She has a lovely flow to her outline, with good body proportions and nothing overdone. Lean noble head, long well placed leathers with a kind but slightly snooty expression that I loved. Well developed in forechest and enough depth of chest for age. Holding a firm topline stood and on the move. Striding out well, just needing to tighten a fraction more - BPB

2nd: 1578 MCLOUGHLIN, Miss Rhian Kalimor Tailor
Litter sister to winner, quite similar, but not quite as forward in development as yet. Very pretty head, good shape to the eye and having a keen expression. Liked her overall shape and size, not the forechest of winner, and tending to be a little bum high at present. But it is all there to come together in time. Not quite as coordinated as her sister on the move as yet

2nd: 1569 HOWARD, Mr Timothy Akwamar legend of Zelda Von chalgroveian
Very raw 11 month old bitch, a little more refined all through than winner and looking a little up on the leg at present. She has a very feminine head, which shows good proportions of back skull to foreface, slight stop, and a kind eye. Good length of neck, needing to drop a little more in brisket, holding a firm topline, well bent stifles with a good width of thigh. Rather erratic on the move

Class 718 JB (3 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1566 HILL, Miss Cheryl Weipowa Ida
Lovely bitch who is only just out of puppy but shows herself off with style. Liked her overall size, substance, and femininity. Still all to come together to complete the picture. Liked her head piece, very aristocratic look about her. Good length of neck which gives her elegance, well developed in forechest and brisket down to the elbow, with ribs carried well back. Hindquarters show a good width of thigh and bend of stifle. A pleasure to watch on the move, as she shows drive and clean in her action

2nd: 1595 SUETT, Mrs Melissa Silberliss Saucy Mare JW
Another promising youngster, 16 month old bitch with a pleasing outline. She has good body proportions and very feminine. Pleasing head, with the correct shape to the eye and long lobular ears that frame her face.  Elegant neck flowing into a firm level topline. Just needing to drop a little more in brisket to complete the picture. Unfortunately seemed to lack the animation on the move today, possibly the heat of the day

3rd: 1574 KNIGHT, Miss Dionne Wallaroo Sweet Caroline

Class 719 YB (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1556 ANDERSON, Mrs Charmain & ANDERSON, Mr Jason Hollieseast Chanel Chic JW
Very shapely bitch 21 months old. She is elegant but has substance and strength through the body. Long lean and aristocratic head, slight stop, and round blue/grey eyes, giving a kind expression. Having a lovely flow through the neck and topline, which was firm. Good depth of chest, wide hindquarters and in good muscle tone. Moved soundly just lacking a little drive today

2nd: 1599 WOOD, Ms Carolyn Stormdancer Plum Pudding
It is a shame this 18 month old bitch does not show herself off in the ring, losing out today on movement. She insisted on pacing every time she was moved, which threw out her action. Slightly darker bitch, who when stood, shows strength and substance with well boned limbs. A fraction more compact in outline, showing good depth, firm in her topline with strong nicely angulated hindquarters and in good firm condition

2nd: 1574 KNIGHT, Miss Dionne Wallaroo Sweet Caroline
15 month old bitch, liked her size and overall proportions when stood. Elegant head which is nicely balanced. Good length of neck, deep in brisket, nicely boned limbs, today tending to lose her topline. Strong hindquarters in good muscle tone. A happy mover, not quite the extension in front, but shows good drive from the rear

Class 721 PGB (5 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 1581 MORRIS, Mrs T & RANDALL, Mrs D Kalimor Dottie JW
Very much liked first and second placed, litter sisters and very similar in their outline. Today just preferring the movement of winner. When stood she presents a balanced and shapely profile, with a well developed body and the right amount of bone. Pleasing outline to her head, with a good length to the foreface, intelligent eye, and well placed ears. Clean neck of good length flowing into a firmly held topline. Liked her depth and development of forechest. Correct length to height ratio, with ribs carried well back. Strong hindquarters, which she put to good use to drive around the ring

2nd: 1562 DOBBS, Mrs D Kalimor Summa Love JW
Another with well balanced body lines and very feminine throughout. Today just not flowing as well as her sister. She has the desired aristocratic look about her, noble in her head. Clean neck, holding a firm topline. Brisket is down to the elbow and forechest is well developed. She stands on well boned limbs with compact well knuckled feet. Wide quarters and well bent stifle. Not quite as fluid on the move today, again could have been down to the heat.

Lovely bitch, and at 2 years of age she is just starting to come into her own. Thought her to be so shapely, elegant, feminine yet with substance and bone. Today not putting a foot wrong, to show herself off with style. She has beautiful body lines when stood, showing a graceful clean outline. Very feminine head piece, long and lean, the right amount to the flews, and a well-shaped intelligent eye. Neck smoothly transitioning into well placed shoulders and a firm topline. Well developed through the body with a good ribcage. Strong and muscular hindquarters. Moving out with purpose, drive and positive footfall – Delighted to award her RBCC

2nd: 1560 DENNIS, Mrs M Silverweis Sparkler
A 4 year old bitch thought her to be very pretty and shapely. She has the desired amount of bone and substance. Nicely balance head, and kind intelligent expression. Strong neck of good length, not quite the forechest and depth of winner. Kept a good topline both stood and on the move. Good development of hindquarters, showing width to the thigh and a well turned stifle. Liked her side profile on the move, not as clean in her front action today, lovely drive from the rear.

So very smart, with lovely balance and construction. One part just flows into the next. But it is on the move where she came into her own, free flowing and powerful. Liked her overall balance and proportions. Very appealing head, unmistakably feminine, with the correct ratios of back skull to foreface, and well set on ears to frame her face. Long muscular neck flowing into a firm level topline. Deep in brisket  with a well defined forechest, her outline showing unexaggerated symmetry. Wide quarters with good musculature. A pleasure to watch on the move, she keeps her body lines and balance as she moves with ease around the ring. Super drive from behind, rear pasterns being parallel and with good width. Please to be able to award her BCC & BOS

2nd: 1579 MORRIS, Mrs T Kalimor Gem
Another bitch with much to admire, at 4 years old she is looking mature, and portraying a balanced picture when stood. Thought her to be of a lovely size and very balanced in her proportions. She is sturdy and well built but retains her femininity. Quality head and such a gentle expression. Well developed and deep in brisket, liked her well boned limbs and compact feet. She Holds a firm level topline. Strong hindquarters, muscular and shapely with a good width of thigh and hocks squarely set to the ground. Excellent side gait, today a fraction close behind. Liked her very much and in the mix for top awards

4 year old pale bitch, who moved out with enthusiasm and good drive to take this class. Liked her overall size and femininity. Her head is well proportioned with a good length to the foreface, kind eye and well placed leathers. Good length of neck, enough depth to the brisket and nicely boned limbs. At times tending to lose her topline when stood, but all came together on the move. Moderate in her hindquarters, shown in good hard condition. – Best SB
