                                        11th May 2024

Thank you to The Birmingham Dog Show Society for inviting me to judge at the National Dog Show, my very first championship show awarding CC’s. I had a lovely day and was very well looked after by the committee and my lovely ring stewards at this well run show. I should have judged it last year but due to covid it was put back a year. Thank you also to all the exhibitors that entered and excepted my decisions sportingly.

Happy boy with moderate neck leading to well laid back shoulders giving him good front angulation. He is short coupled and has a level topline and correct tail carriage. Moved out well with good drive.

2nd Wilkins & Wilcock’s Fortunamajor Bettelgeuse. Heavier marked Tricolour but with the sweetest head and gentle expression. Excellent pigment and large dark round eyes. Short coupled body with well angulated hindquarters giving him plenty of drive on the move. Happy temperament and with age and experience will gain in confidence and have a really bright future that I will watch with interest. BPD

2nd Sedgbeer’s Russmic Whiskey Business. 7month old rich Ruby. Loved his overall shape. He moves well with a level topline and good tail carriage. With time and confidence I’m sure this lovely little boy will have a good future ahead.

He shows himself off with exuberance and really makes the most of his time in the ring. Nice head with good ear set and flat skull. 2nd Harrison’s Millpoint Orient Express. See Junior Dog

3rd Knight’s Carolus Coronation

Class 5680

8(1)

1st Levy & Sedgwick’s Pascavale Tyson. Very much my type. Real toy spaniel, with pretty but masculine head. Large, dark round eyes and sweetest of expressions. Correct moderate neck and well placed shoulders. Short coupled with both good front and rear angulation. Moved around the ring effortlessly and with good drive. Loved his outline when standing. Correct tail set and carriage with a tail that never stopped wagging. Seriously considered him for the CC and one I will watch in the future. RCC

2nd Spall & Clark’s Llapsttam’s Sir Prize. Black & Tan I have admired previously from the ring side and he didn’t disappoint. Very pleasing head with flat skull and good ear set. Good neck leading to solid level topline. Liked his overall shape and good turn of stifle. Just slightly longer cast than 1 if I was nitpicking. Correct tail carriage and presented very well. Will watch this boy with interest.

3rd Lewis’ Carleeto Cutie Pie JW.

Class 2031
Post Graduate Dog

1st Gibson’s  Toraylac Harvard. Although standing alone in this class he was well deserving of his first place. So attentive to his handler and moved well with drive holding a level topline while moving and standing with correct tail carriage. He has a pleasing head with lovely large dark eyes. Good length of neck, well laid back shoulders and a short coupled. Made a nice overall picture.

Class 2032

Love his overall shape and movement. He holds a level topline on the move and standing. Will watch this happy boy with interest.

2nd Hughes’ Loranka’s Encanto. Loved this Black & Tan’s size and shape. Small, short coupled with very good angulation front and back. His tan is rich and he showed well, attentive to his handler.

3rd Walker’s Stavonga Sky Walker Kayceekay JW OSW ShCEx

Class 2033
Limit Dog
6(1)

1st Stanton’s Cassandra Bruce Banner. Black & Tan with lovely rich tan markings. I really liked his head and expression. He has good reach of neck leading to well laid back shoulders. His whole overall shape is good and he moves well holding a level topline at all times. Presented well in good coat.

2nd Cox’s Fujairah Eric Morecambe ShCEx. Was unlucky to meet 1st in this class. Close to each other in overall shape and movement. Real showman and enjoyed his day. If I was knit picking would prefer a slightly darker eye. However a good example overall.

3rd Mangham’s Brymarden Touch Of Gold of Charnavale.

Class 2034
Open Dog
8(3)

1st Vorderstrasse’s Ch Arrowbien Dream Machine. This well broken Blenheim caught my eye as soon as he entered the ring. His masculine but gentle expression is just what I was looking for. Large dark eyes and correct top of head and ear set. He has a slightly arched neck of the right length leading to well laid back shoulders. He has well turned stifles and moves with drive keeping a level topline moving and standing. Very good spring of rib and correct tail set and carriage. He has great ring presence and was turned out to perfection. Couldn’t deny him top honours today. Both myself and my co judge loved both our top winners who were bred by the same kennel, so we decided to let the referee decide. Today the Bitch was BOB but it was a very close call. CC

2nd Kilcoyne’s Ch Granasil Bourbon. What can I say that hasn’t already been said about this beautiful example of our breed. One I have watched and admired from the ringside having met him as a baby while caravaning! Rich Ruby presenting a lovely overall outline and shape. His handsome masculine head has a lovely soft expression with large dark round eyes and excellent pigment. Moved with style and drive as expected with his good angulation back and front. A very worthy Champion.
