LEEDS CITY CH SHOW 2024

                                    Yorkshire Terrier report

How sad that this quite charming toy breed has seemingly lost favour with show enthusiasts and I am told the low entry is quite common these days.  The breed has, over the years, produced a number of outstanding show dogs, capable of challenging all breeds for top honours. Sadly this is no longer the case and it was with regret that I felt unable to award the RCC in males.

PD(2/1)  1st & BP Haaisova's Jestidek Marvelous Marty 10 months, niceley balanced head with good eyes for size, colour and expression. Neat little ears help his cause, enough neck, level backline and moves out well. Just hope his colour deepens as he matures.

JD(1)  1st Taylor's Bierlyn Rupert Bear this little chap is nicely headed, has the neatest of ears and such expressive eyes.   His coat is a good texture and he circles the ring with a confident stride. Bodywise he is short coupled but needs bodyweight .

LD(1)  1st Pipes' Brevorda Morning Serenade, well coated, nice for size and outline but I just hope his blue colour deepens.  His head is well balanced and he has very expressive, knowing eyes. He never performed well on the move, disliking the grass I suspect

OD(2/1)  1ST & CC Sharp-Dixon & Reyes' Queenslake Diamond Ring of Power 3 years old and so much to like.  Good size, well balanced head, so expressive in eyes with that pert, almost cheeky gaze. He is well constructed, firm in backline and was so positive on the move. An easy ticket winner.

PB(2)  1st Sharp-Dixon & Reeves' Queenslake Diamond Ring 2nd Redhead's Jankeri Evelyn here were two babies at vastly different stages of development.  The winner is much more advanced in body and coat and adapted to moving round the ring with much more assuredness.  Both were well presented coat wise but the second was a bit over awed by it all when asked to move and she is less forward in body development and coping with a grass ring.

JB(1)  1st Taylor's Bierlyn Something Else a promising youngster with much appeal in head and expression with especially appealing eyes. Compact body, ample reach in neck and sufficient hind angulation. Her coat is at that in between stage and hopefully the tan will deepen with the new jacket.  She moved around the ring with a brisk step.

LB(1)  1st & Res CC Redhead's Jankeri Iris title bound I am sure.  Has that air of quality, a delight to go over on the table, sweet expression from a well balanced head, ample neck, so well bodied and coated with a lovely rich tan!  She moved out soundly and was a delight to judge.

OB(3)  Finally, 3 really good examples of the breed and all in the one class!!! 1st CC & BOB Robert's Shawhills Paws For Thought  the most finished article of the day.  Lovely head piece, very good neck and spring of rib, well set and carried tail and well muscled hindquarters.  Her colours are so correct, real steel blue jacket with a rich tan.  Impeccable in coat presentation and she strode round the ring with that air of bravado and oozing confidence.  Title bound for sure.2nd Evans' Victoria's Secret of Dare to Dream (Imp) JW another top quality example of the breed and a delight to go over.  Lovely headpiece, well bodied and coated and like the winner, her colours are so correct and the coat texture good. In an indoor venue the result may have been different as she did not cope as well in the grass as did the two I put over her. She too is a Ch in the making. 3rd Ikaneviciene's Kajusun Charmin' Darling
