LEEDS CITY CH SHOW 2024

                                             Beagle report

Not the largest entry I have ever had but I had heaps of quality which made my task challenging, but so enjoyable.  It is a joy to have real competition for the top awards and here, in both sexes, I was spoilt for choice.  I was delighted to learn later that the BOB had won a quality Hound Group, so additional pleasure!!

MPD(5)  1st Jones & Jepson's Earedley Trot On  a good start to the day with this charming and very promising youngster. Oozes type in head and expression,, so well ribbed nicely angulated hindquarters and he covers the ground with a brisk, purposeful stride. Should finish well.  2nd Beard's Kellitcreed Peaky Blinder  another very promising young tri.  Such a quality head with a charming expression.  He has a good neck, is well bodied and carries his tail so well. His good angulation suggests he will be an accomplished mover but on the day he was run much too fast which spoiled his rhythym.  Moved at a slower speed and he will be very successful 3rd Cudlip's Stormpasture Sotheby at Harvidane

PD(4/1)  1st Havard's Annavah Justify  all male in head and expression, super reach in neck which enhances his outline, well set and carried tail and in excellent muscle condition. Sufficient rear angulation and profile action shows good ground cover and hock use. 2nd Jones & Jepson's Eardley Party Boy  just over 6 months but oozes promise despite his babyness.  A tri with a stunning head and expression, so well ribbed, good bone and feet and has that bright eyed look of expectation that we hope pups will have!  Quite sound in action I am sure his future is bright. 3rd Binks' Tannahill Erra

JD(5/1)  1st Raymond & Wenman'sWenannou Vader With Dialynne a classy tri of lovely type and little I would chose to alter other than that he was less than enthusiastic on the move.  He is so good to go over on the table, condition and muscle tone flawless and if he can be persuaded to be more outgoing, his future  is bright. 2nd Banks' Forgebanks Santiano a sound moving lemon and white with a well balanced head, excellent ears and a charming expression. Enough neck, well ribbed, a shade long in loin for me but he moved around the ring with good ground cover. 2rd Lewis' Fallowfield Romeo

PGD(2)  1st Jayes' Rossut Zavier at Sandylands oh this was a very energetic and rarin' to go tri that made me smile. Totally outgoing in temperament, all male in head and expression, such good head carriage, well sprung ribs and a good forechest .  A trifle long cast for me and not quite the upper thigh width of Zavier.  2nd Timmins' Timolliemae Ace

LD(5)  1st Jones & Jepson's Eardley Ready For Anything a top quality tri in spanking condition and he takes the eye on entry.  Has style, a quality headpiece, is well constructed and has just about enough front and rear angulation.  He was the best mover in the class, balanced with reach and drive.   2nd Jones' Clairdake Fusilier another very handsome male and on the stack he does take the eye as he uses that good neck to full advantage to exaggerate his flowing outline.  He is well ribbed, has sufficient bend of stifle and such good feet. In profile he matched the winner stride for stride but was just edged out by  the winner being steadier in front coming towards me. 3rd Foster & Jones' Stormpasture Saddlesoap

OD(6)  1st CC, BOB & Group1 winner Parker & Stevens' Ch Serenaker Armani  quite stunning and a lovely example of the breed. Nothing I would change, he just exudes class, is ultra sound and ticked all the boxes for me.  I was thrilled when I learned that he had won the Group. I'm told this is  his 33rd CC....and that in a strongly competitive breed. Well done.! 2nd & Res CC Lewis' Ch Fallowfield Fallman another classy male Beagle and not surprised to learn he is already ennobled. Has style, a quality headpiece and such a winning expression from stunning eyes. He is shapely, oozes class and was a delight to watch circle the ring with a positive, far reaching stride.  3rd Goldberg's Molesend Giorgio

VD(1)  1st & BVIB Jones' Ch Newlin Preston to Clairdale JW post judging I was thrilled to see that this very handsome  dog has his crown...and deservedly so.  7 years young, a credit in body and muscle condition and he has that air of quality which Champions have. A credit in his overall condition and his light footedness as he circled the ring was a joy to see.

SBD/B(2)  1st Kilgour's Kelcardi Claudia lots to admire in this nicely headed bitch   with such knowing eyes and super ears framing her face.  Well ribbed, sufficient neck, nice hind angulation and so balanced in profile action.2nd Langman's Madika High Flyer at Bonwillan such a feminine head and expression, sufficient spring of rib, level back and well set tail.  A degree of rear angulation and she is balanced in action as she circles the ring.  I would just like that tad more leg length to balance the picture.

MPB(3)  1st Jones' Clairdale Galatea  this lemon pied is ultra feminine in head and expression, well defined stop and that so alive glance won me over. She is nicely constructed, decent layback in shoulders, firm backline, well set and carried tail and sufficient rear angulation.  Steady in action as she circled the ring and surely her future is bright.  2nd Havard's  Annavah Chantilly Cream this is another top quality youngster with a beautiful headpiece and winning expression.  She is shapely on the stack but was a bit of a madam on the move with just that hint of mischief in her expression as she ignored her handler! 3rd Longman's Julemark Charity

PB(3)  1st & BP  Hardisty's Blunderhall Saucy Sally  takes the eye on entry.  Ultra feminine in head and expression from super eyes. Sufficient neck, really well ribbed and with such a true forehand on the stack.  She has  good upper thigh width  and she really used her hocks as she circled the ring with reach and drive. Surely a bright future.  2nd Griffin's Clarismore Winter Luxury a size bigger all through and a tad stronger in head than I like in a bitch. However, she is so well constructed, well laid shoulders, firm elbows on the stack with her outline enhanced by a good tail set and carriage.  She is sound in action and shows rear drive.  3rd Stuart's Boskenna's Wicked Witch

JB(5)  1st Jones & Jepson's Eardley Smartrypants another quality youngster from this prefix.  Again her head is a delight, stunning expression, beautiful ears set framing her face to great advantage, sufficient neck, well bodied and so light footed as she circled the ring with a light, powerful gait. 2nd Havard's Annavah Teardrop another quality bitch of the standard we have become used to from this prestigious affix.  A tricolour with such quality in head and expression, enough neck, firm backline and such well knuckled feet. I felt the winner had that smidgeon truer front action, but doubtless they will swap places often.  3rd Binks' Tannahill Calissa

PGB(4)  1st Stathan's Serenaker Paloma at Brigam such a pretty headed tan and white with that soft knowing look from excellent eyes. Her head handles well, well defined stop, ample muzzle with good lip line, enough neck, so well ribbed and moderate rear angulation. At her best on the move, reach and drive and holds her shape in profile   2nd  K. Claudia 3rd Langman's Madika Hugh Flyer at Bonwillan

LB(4)  1st Jones & Jepson's Cabowindra Ooh La La  such a quality bitch, oozing feminity in head and expression aided by the darkest of eyes.  She is so balanced in construction, lovely tail set and carriage and is well muscled aft.  Went round the ring with a light as air action and her presence enhanced the ticket line up. 2nd Stuart's Danger Digits With Boskenna another really good quality bitch which matched the winner in most respects.  She is a credit to her owners in muscle tone and attitude where she shows non stop.  In a photo finish decision I felt the winner was that tad truer in elbow as she came towards me.  3rd Arden's Annavah Star Above AW(S)

OB(8)  What a joy to judge so many quality bitches.  It took some sorting out but it ended up with  1st & CC Tanner's Ch Felinoak Ffansi Nansi JW what a really top quality example of the female Beagle this deserved Ch is. I don't recall ever seeing her before but she takes the eye on entry. Stacked she is beautifully balanced, uses that good neck to advantage, is well angulated both ends,  her coat shines with well being and she has that ultra feminine softness in her expression which demands a second look. Light footed as she circled the ring, head held high, firm in backline and showing reach and drive. 2nd & Res CC Havard's Ch Annavah Princess Tiana another every so worthy Ch oozing star quality and a credit in coat and muscle tone.  Lovely headed, beautifully ribbed and with balanced angles.  She has ample substance for her sex and like the winner she can motor so effectively as she circles the ring. Delighted to give this very worthy Ch. the RCC in such a quality line up. 3rd Davies; Annavah Nocturne at Barrvale

VB(3/1)  Two charming golden oldies.  Both happy as Larry to be in the ring and they matched each other as they circled the ring with a lightness of foot that could put some of the youngsters to shame.  Both quality examples of the breed and  a great credit to their owners. It was so hard to seperate them, but finally  I opted for Arden's Madika Spot On  JW Sh.CM AW(P)VW with  2nd  to the equally charming Fitzpatrick's Blunderhall Moonwalker at Springstorm
