Judging: Gordon Setter, Gundog Group
Leeds Championship Dog Show - Gordon Setters - Judge Richard Morris (Lascoed)
Thank you to Leeds committee for the most kind invitation to judge the wonderful hospitality offered and to all exhibitors for their most kind entries. Over twenty years after attending my first breed seminar it was a delight to judge Gordons at this level thanks also to my excellent stewards Vicky and Fran. I was pleased with my winners some very nice youngsters coming through too. I have to comment I felt there was a preponderance of heavy ears on show and tan was sometimes smirched and blacked not clean and clear. But, unusually for show gundog increasingly, there were lots of excellent upper arms in the entry not just with length to them but robust solid well boned strength. Feet in the breed have also to be complemented they were mainly close, firm and very well padded and cushioned. How often said "you judge a horse by its feet" how appropriate for a “heavy hunter” gordon. Well done exhibitors and thank you for showing your well presented stock.
