Judging: Havanese, Toy Group

Thank you to the officers and committee  at Leeds for the invitation to judge at one of my favourite shows. Thank also to my efficient stewards who kept the ring running smoothly. To the exhibitors who joined me it was nice to see you and your lovely Havanese.

Well made body with adequate length of body - to length of leg for age. Furnished well, tail set on high carried over the back . Balanced on the move with a springy gait. True front & back. I’m sure there’s a promising future ahead. BPIB & RDCC

Class 509 LD (4 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1453 GUNN, Mrs Lorraine Janabear Dance O' The Knights. This boy brought his A‘ game today. The minute he entered the ring it was game on! A fully mature 6 ½ year old  cream and white male. He absolutely looks the part in profile and does not disappoint on the table. The most handsome masculine head set off by perfectly placed ears with natural fold, then you look at his face, the largest dark almond eye with black rims to melt the heart, his black nose and correct clean dentition complete his expression. He has a moderate neck leading fluidly into the withers, level top-line with slight rise over his short, moderately tucked loin. Tail set on high falling naturally into a plume over his back. Sprung rib of good length. Slightly longer in body from point of shoulder to point of buttock than in withers to ground. Good length of leg, medium bone and moderate angulation. Fabulous coat condition of good length with undercoat which moved naturally in the breeze on the go around. Covered the ground with enthusiasm, head held high, and the required jaunty movement  DCC & BOB. I believe this is his 2nd CC, I look forward to seeing him get his 3rd.
2nd: 1456 HOLLIDAY, Mrs Kathleen Elizabeth Pandaprint Casanova. 5yr old fully mature cream/sable male. Correct head and expression, black pigmentation and correct dentition. Good reach of neck and well made body. He is at the top end of the scale for height, however his abundant coat with undercoat gives the impression of more, not the case when assessed properly under the hand. Moderate bone and angulation, well muscled in the rear. Sturdy in stature, correct tail carriage, moved with bounce, true front and back.

Class 510 OD (4 Entries) Abs: 2
1st: 1455 HARRIS, Mrs R A Tiggafield Jack Flash At Mantafield. 6yr old black white white male, lovely shape and size. Firstly, I was so impressed on how good this boy looked, maturity has served him well. He has all the characteristics one would expect in a Havese. 50/50 head, dark almond eye, scissor bite and good pigment. Good body proportions,  I particularly liked his length of leg. His coat was the best I’ve ever seen it. Time and patience particularly in boys is needed, it allows them to come into their own. Eager on the move with a spring in his step.
2nd: 1454 GUNN, Mrs Lorraine Newtonwood Crazy For Love To Harvahope. 3 ½ year old male with a dark rich red coat and a flash of white. Good overall shape and size. Good strong head with a lovely expression. Presented in beautiful condition, moved well just needs time to mature.
Class 513 PB (1 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1467 YOUNG, Mrs J & Mr R Newpark Alice In Wonderland. Petite 11mth  black & white puppy, she is very much a baby. She has the sweetest expression, her length of body - length of leg is in proportion for her size. She has a super coat which is quite mature for her age. Moved well, just not as strong in rear action as my BP.
Class 515 PGB (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 1464 SMITH, Mrs S Elperrito Sheer Delight. 2yr old B/W female. Nice head of equal proportions, correct eye and dentition. Good front assembly and width to chest. Coat of good quality coming on well. Tail set on high. Would prefer a little more length of leg to balance out the body. Scored in chest, moved well.
2nd: 1451 FENWICK, Miss Jayne Adorele Dreamed A Dream Jw. 3yr old red/sable girl. Pretty feminine head, almond eye with good pigmentation. Beautifully presented with soft silky coat. Length of leg to body is good for her size, would prefer a little more of her. Moved well.
Class 516 LB (4 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 1462 SALMON, Mrs L Dyffrynsands Margot Mae At Lizzielane. 2yr old cream/sable. Really liked the femininity of this girl and her soft expression, her large dark almond eye with dark rims light up her face. Compact but not square ,  correct leg - body ratio, good ribbing, sturdy in body, short in loin with moderate tuck-up. Tail carriage high with plume. Soft silky coat. Light on her feet with a spring in her step. A pleasure to award her the RBCC.
2nd: 1468 YOUNG, Mrs J & Mr R Newpark's Creme De La Creme Jw. Lovely cream coming up to 3yrs. Liked her for shape and size, presented in immaculate condition. Good head and expression. 1st: 1460 RUSSELL, Mrs C Dyffrynsands Destinys Day To Claravi. 5yr old champagne girl, her mum probably celebrated with a glass of the same when she got home. I have admired this girl for some time now. When I judged her two years ago she didn’t want to come to the party. I’m glad she decided to join us at Leeds. A girl of medium size who is moderately done throughout. Her head is of equal proportions with moderate stop & width to skull, correct ears-set with a natural fold. Her large dark almond eyes offer the most appealing melt your heart expression. Moderate neck leading into whithers, correct topline with slight rise over short loin. Tail set high carried in a plume. Excellent ribbing. Nice forequarters with tight elbows, moderate angulation in rear. Furnished with a naturally soft silky coat with undercoat. Moved true front and back with a jaunty Havanese gait. A pleasure to award her the BCC.
