Hound Association Championship show July 2024

Hamiltonstovare

Overall a lovely line up of Hamiltonstovare and I found the bitches to be slightly better movers than the males today.

Yearling Dog:

1st. J & W Hough’s Secret Agent with Sufayre

Good length of head with moderate stop and equal proportions. Correct bite. Almond eye shape and good colour. Well set on ears flat to cheek. Strong neck into well angulated front shoulder and return of upper arm. Decent depth of chest. Level topline. Tail set on correct. Strong bone and straight forelimbs. Rear is a little hockey and showed this on movement coming and going but nice side profile movement.

Post Grad Dog:

1st. S & J Briant’s Play on for Sufayre

Much the same as in yearling dog. Good head, eye, ear and dentition. Slightly crested neck into good front angulation. Elbows tight into chest. Forelegs and pasterns strong and good rear limbs and hocks. Excellent feet. Good coat texture and colour. A little weaker in topline than winner but moved out well. RBDog.

Open Dog:

1st. S Briant & E Ellwood’s Sufayre Larsson

Much to admire on this male. Good length and balance of head. Dark eye and correct ear placement. Good dentition. Slightly crested, strong neck into well angulated front. Withers in correct place to carry the angulation, showing strong forechest. Straight limbs with strong pasterns with oval feet. Thicker coat and strong colouration. Nicely balanced angulation on rear with strong well let down parallel hocks. A little longer in body length which afforded him to move without crossing. Good coming and going and nice length to side gait. Best Dog.

2nd. R.Graham’s Game Changer for Sufayre.

Another quality male with all the same attributes as his relatives. Good body length to height ratio and with good bone & substance. Well filled front but I found him again to be a little weak in the hocks which shows on coming and going movement.

Puppy Bitch:

1st. B Kenmare’s Omega Huculska Dolina at Craigmills (imp Pol)

Nice type and very feminine. Correct balance to head and nice soft dark eye. Correct dentition. Good angulations both front and rear. A little loose in elbow at present but at only 8 months of age, I am sure this will strengthen. Good coat texture and colour at present age. Nice movement. Also won Junior Bitch class.

Junior Bitch: as above.

Yearling Bitch:

1st. S Stuart’s Dream Maker from Sufayre

Again another good example from this litter with the same attributes. Good head, eye, colour and coat. Correct angulation and in balance. Strong but feminine. Moves very tidy in front and behind with nice side gait. Res BB

Post Grad Bitch:

1st. E & D Reilly’s Wish Maker for Sufayre

Very smart looking bitch. Feminine but showing strength all over. Lovely head with good dentition and level muzzle and skull. Soft dark eyes of good shape. Moderate stop. Ear set on correct and of good length. Strong neck into well angulated front. Ribbing down to elbows which were held tight to the chest. Good bone and substance with oval feet and slightly sprung pasterns.  Good coat texture & colour definition. Hocks strong and straight and movement was a delight to watch. No crossing and straight parallel line. Best B & Best of Breed.

Open Bitch:

1st. S & J Briant’s Star Catcher from Sufayre

Yet again another from the litter with all the same attributes. Very nice compact bitch. Same head shape as previous exhibits. Slightly crested neck into excellent front angulation in balance with rear. Good length to height ratio. Good feet and pasterns. Straight hocks. Good bone & substance. Prefer the coat texture of the winner on this occasion.
