Thank you to the Houndshow for inviting me to judge and for giving Bloodhounds a good sized ring to compete in.

Unfortunately the entry was small, I like to think that the ingredients for a dog show are like making a cake, today we had all the ingredients for a perfectly lovely cake , all be it a small one, so  thank you to the competitors for their time.

It was a long wait to get into the ring and we all know how Bloodhounds can react to waiting around, so again thank you to the competitors for their patience and for getting their hounds to do what they needed to do, even though there was lots of smell distracting them .

Junior Dog- I entry

1st) Hudson’s – Graceminster Rumble (AI)

15-month-old Black and tan dog. Well presented, coat clean to touch, good eyes with a clean face, nice tight feet.

Good depth to chest, good length of back, good angulation to stifle, giving a strong looking outline when standing. Was unsettled at first when entered the ring. But settled down when moved around the ring. Once he had got into his stride moved with drive with a good top line.

Would like to see a bit more substance/covering to him, but as a young hound he is still at the age of growth and this can lead to a hound being all legs as it were, but worthy of the award today. -   RDCC

Open Dog- 1entry

1st Pennington’s Ch Moorlander Guy La Roche

4-year-old black and tan dog, in extremely good condition, a male who is maturing well into his years, good eyes clean face, good feet, coat shining and clean to touch. Good depth to chest standing over a lot of ground with a confident strong outline, well bodied /muscled hound, who looked as those he could do the very job he is designed to do. Good strong top line, moved with drive a power around the ring with good use of stern  and handled well on a nice loose lead.   DCC & BOB

Junior Bitch 1 entry

1st Talyor Mrs A& Mrs N Graceminster Rhyme (AI)

15 – month-old bitch, very feminine, good eyes clean face, nice feet, Another unsettled hound, who again took some time moving around the ring to settle into the task in hand. Good condition and again as litter brother, is of that age where the body is developing. Everything is there, just needs time a maturity to help this along. Nice top line with an easy gait, seemed to gain confidence the more moved and the more time in the ring.  Stood well, again once settled. This bitch is getting better at every show and with confidence and experience of both hound and handler will continue to improve. Worthy of the award today, - RBCC

Limit  Bitch  2 entires

1st) Hudson’s – Graceminster Ruby Slipper (AI)

Another litter sibling 15-month-old bitch. A good traditional looking feminine, but not over exaggerated hound. Good eyes with a clean face, nice feet in good condition, projected a good image in standing and on the move.  Nice depth to chest and muscle developing well.   Moved well with an easy gait on a nice loose lead, has matured quicker than the litter siblings and seems a more confident settled hound for her age.  Stood with an ease and confidence. I am very pleased to say that under the new so many RCC and CC structure this bitch today achieved her Champion status (subject to KC approval)  Well done . BCC – BOS

2nd)   Cruickshank’s Wychway- crown’s Ghillie Gin’sIsland at Culsalmond (IMP USA)

20 -month-old Black and tan bitch, in good eye, and good feet, coat in good condition, clean to touch, was not settled today and as with the other hounds moving round the ring did not seem to help settle her.  Would like a bit more muscle definition, to give a stronger outline.   Move with a gentle feminine gait, would like a looser lead, but did get slightly unsettled moving, which was unfortunate and maybe the long wait was something that didn’t help. It was a very close decision for the RBCC between the two bitches but it came down to ring confidence in the end.
