Houndshow 2023
PBGV
Thank you for your quality entry. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and spending time with your hounds.
I have not been near the PBGV rings since my last appointment so I had no preconceptions of what to expect.
I thought presention had improved, although I felt that some hounds would have benefited from some tidying on the legs, to improve how they appeared coming and going. I also thought that eye colour has improved, with a large majority of hounds having good dark pigment.
Bites were all correct and tails in the main were a moderate length and straight.
Some fronts could have been stronger in the wrist and pastern, but more a strength issue than conformational.

Confident gr/w youngster, harsh but not profuse coat, has balance head with excellent dark pigment, correct ear set, enough neck and good body and width in quarters for age. A little unbalanced in proportions at the moment, and rear angles need to improve, time is on his side of course. Moved very well for his age, with good head and tail carriage. BPD and BP.

1st: 210 WYLLIE, Mrs Lorna & WYLLIE, Mr Steven Callydena Guinness G/w with good head, pigment, coat quality, and tail set. Going through a raw stage so looking quite leggy, but he moved with drive and looked much better on the move than in stance, when he tended to lean back a little, hence losing his angles behind.
2nd: 197 REID, Mr & Mrs Philip & Dianne Maudaxi Fonzie Foxtrot. Quality S/W with good expression, pigment and balance to head. Overall well balanced and proportionate, with good bone and feet. Just not very settled on the move, but I’m sure he will improve and enjoy a successful show career.

1st: 172 BROWN, Mrs Jane Soletrader Fabioquartaro. A quality G/w hound from all angles, forward for his age, masculine but not coarse in head, with strong lower jaw, excellent pigment, appealing expression, good nape to neck and stature in front, which lent itself to good forward reach . Balanced in body properties with well developed forechest, strong loin, good angles fore and aft, powerful hind action from well let down, strong hocks. Active, eye-catching mover, workmanlike, with that touch of style. No hesitation in awarding him the CC and Best of Breed.
2nd: 198 ROBERTSON, Miss E & ROBERTSON, Mrs Sara & ROBERTSO SOLETRADER HAPPY AS LARRY. Another quality young male, G/W, another who is mature for his age, has a kind expression with good dark pigment, not as strong as one in head and neck, slightly longer foreface, good angulation , up on his leg in front, so moved freely and straight . Well ribbed back with well-muscled loin and quarters. Good tail set, moved with drive from short strong hocks.

1st: 201 SCOTT, Mrs Lynne Overbecks Tommy Shelby G/w who wasn’t so settled on the move today. He has an appealing expression, good coarse coat with great short tail, well set on. Proportionately, he is a little deep for his length of leg, he has a good spring of rib and short loin, strong quarters and wide thigh. he didn’t make the most of himself on the move to begin with, but when he settled, he maintained a good top line, and used himself more.

1st: 183 FORDHAM, Mrs A Elsfie Monsieur Oakley. Rising 4 yo G/w hound, with appealing expression, dark eye, clean skull, good length of neck and lay of shoulder. Good bone, but could stand straighter in front. Strong body, coat harsh and tidy, well set tail, a little straight behind but moved with enough drive maintaining topline. (Handler tends to stretch him out in stance which gives the impression that he’s longer than he actually is.)

Difficult class consisting of 3 variants in type.
1st: 173 CADMORE, Mrs Elizabeth & HAYES, Ms Janice & MOORE, Ch & Am Ch M AND M'S STELLAR MAYHEM AND MADNESS (Imp USA) classy G/W with appealing expression. Won the class on his happy, strong, straight movement, holding his topline and keeping a jaunty head and tail carriage. I think he could still develop on in body and depth, as he is still only 2 yo. Presented in good order.RCC today.
2nd: 163 BARTLEY, Mr Tim & BARTLEY, MRS Deborah Erylan Loki Maitre Du Mal. Open marked S/W with similar qualities to the winner, in a slightly larger and more rugged , thicker-coated package. Houndy and expressive with deep ribs going well back, just moving a little close behind today, but held topline well and carried himself with attitude, driving round the ring.
