It’s been a while since I last judged this variety, and I really enjoyed my judging today. Of all the varieties I’ve done over the last 18 months I would suggest that Std Wires have the best depth in quality at the moment. However a few things to think about. Firstly moving them at a hundred miles an hour around the ring is not necessary. It suggests to me that the handler is trying to hide something or is following the fashion. Style over substance has to watch for, there that lovely northern adage of “all fur coat and no knickers!”  I would also say that size must be considered for some. And a few examples with overdone front constructions with too much pro sternum and heavy shoulders then no rear width to even balance them out. It makes them look overdone and lacking any refinement. They wouldn’t be able to turn in a sett.

SBD (2,1)
1st: Sanders’ Knottsrose Olaf. Masculine head with a good length, correctly set ear. Good depth of brisket and well ribbed back good loin and into a well made rear with a bend of stifle. Certainly a proud mover with head held high, strutting his stuff. Good level topline. Good bone, but would have liked tighter feet. Up to size. Good coat presentation and harsh texture.

VD (1)
1st: Adams’ Ch Wyldetarn Shoot From The Hip JW. A good make and shape with a good strong level topline. Masculine head with a good eye and well set ear and balance proportions. Well made front with a pro sternum. Straight front with correct return of upperarm into well laid shoulder.  Well ribbed back and good strong loin. Would like a little more width across the rump. Moved well, but does like his tail a little too much which was distracting for the final run off in the CC.    

PD (5)
1st: Rowe’s Boloria Goodnight Mr Tom. Preferred the size to 2nd. Well balanced head with almond dark eye. A broadness to the skill with correctly set ear. Straight front with good bone and feet. Came towards me with correct foot fail. A pro sternum with a well sprung rib and well back. Strong loin. Good bend of stifle and kept a good level topline in profile. Good harsh coat and well presented.

2nd: Beagrie’s Feldhund Moonlight. Bit more to this boy all through, good head piece with equal proportions, dark eye and broad enough skull, correctly set ear. Clean neck and shoulder well ribbed and sprung. Deep brisket. Like a little shorter in loin. Good rear angle, bit long in the rear pastern. Moved well enough. In good coat and condition, well presented. 
3rd: Adams’ Serengarth Bear With Me

JD (7,1)
1st: Howlett & Phillips’ Ch Tendrow Malibar JW. A really nice make and shape and well balanced. Straight front with good bone and close knit feet. Clean forehand with a pro sternum, well laid shoulder and return of upper arm. Good spring of rib and well back. Good level topline and correct tailset and carriage. Good bend of stifle. A classical head well balanced with good dark almond eye did tend to tummy tuck in profile movement.  Well presented in good coat and texture.
2nd: Pughe & Fraser’s Stanegate Stefan At Bystock. A lovely head and expression with plenty of work in it., good dark almond eye.  Not quite as clean through her neck and shoulder, bit forward laid.  Topline was level and correct tailset. Came more into himself when relaxed on the move. A good coat and texture. 
3rd: Sanders’ Knottsrose Olaf. 

PGD (2)
1st: Matthews’ Sonham Fire Cracker. A well made dog when he pulled himself into shape. A good masculine head with an almond dark eye. Board enough skull with correctly set ear. Slight arched neck into a straight front with correct amount of bone and close knit, board  feet. Well ribbed back with good spring. Little over angular at the rear and tended to lose his topline on the move. In harsh coat well presented.   
2nd: Jackson’s Elderkine Special Brew. A strong masculine head. Clean neck with a forechest with a pro sternum. Bit longer on the leg, and would have liked a better coupling between the rib and rear end. Little long in the loin. Drove out well on the move. In good full coat. 

LD (7,2)
1st: Apps’ Calicoe Just Me –I preferred the overall balance and make and shape in this class. Correct body proportions through out. Super bone and well arched feet and stood on them correctly. Good clean neck into a well made forehand. Well ribbed back with a strong loin and correct top line into correct tail set and carriage on the move. A good masculine head without being overdone. Correct almond set correctly with slight brow from board enough skull. Well set ear and good furnishings for a red. Moved with some purpose behind and kept a balanced shape on the move in profile. Good harsh coat texture and well presented. RCC  
2nd: Adams’ Ellesophia Fly Me To The Moon JW. Lots to like but not quite all together. A good harsh coat texture and well presented. Well bodied with good spring of rib. Plenty of prosternum, good depth of brisket. A well made rear with correct angulation and had some drive on the move. I would have preferred a stronger top line over the loin. And maybe not bate his so much as he tends to overstretch himself, putting himself out of balance. 
3rd: Shaw’s Tendrow Will I Am

OD (5)
1st: Carruthers’ Ch Aikton Alexander At Stanegate  A quality made dog, super proportions through out. A good masculine head without being overdone. Good dark almond eye correct set, skull broad enough, conical head when viewed from above, correct set ear and good rounded leather, touching the cheek. Completing a lovely masculine expression. Clean neck into a correctly laid shoulder with good return of upper arm. Good bone and round well arched front feet. Correct rear feet. Good depth of brisket and well ribbed back with a strong loin. Moved with a real attitude of look at me and tail didn’t stop.    CC BOB and Group 4 in a strong Hound group.
2nd: Howlett & Phillips’ Ch Tendrow Malibar JW
3rd: Phillips’ Ch Royal Pepper's Vice Versa (Imp Fin)

GCD (2)
1st: Clayton-Smith’s Cairparavel Hartnell. Won on movement with correct foot fall. Presented in good harsh coat and condition. Carried a little too weight across the shoulder making him look stuffy in neck. Good straight front with good bone and feet. Good depth of brisket into a strong short loin and a well made rear with correct angulation and substance and muscle tone. 
2nd: Mason’s Bramalodge Bet On The Blues. A clean forehand with depth of brisket and a prosternum. Masculine head and expression. Well ribbed back and a long loin, topline was all over the place on the move. Would have liked better bend of stifle. 

SBB (5,1) 
1st: Sieminski’s Wyldetarn Genesis. A feminine, pretty head and expression. Dark almond eye and correct ear set to cheek without a fold. Good bone and feet with straight front, clean lay of shoulder flowing through to a good topline, wee ribbed back with a underline to match. Good tailset and carriage on the move. Moved out well from behind. Well presented and in good harsh coat and well conditioned. 
2nd: Vadhia’s Serengarth Queen Bea. A baby who still a bit raw. A pretty headed bitch with balance head proportions. Good dark almond eye and high set ear. Well made front with straight front and bone and well arched round front feet. Smaller rear ones. Well ribbed back and short loin. Kept her topline on the move and moved with some drive. 
3rd: Jackson’s Hototo's Speculator 

VB (1) 
1st: Rowe’s Ch Boloria's Trick Or Treat JW VW. A well made bitch with a good make and shape. Well proportioned. She’s shows herself with confidence. Feminine head and expression, nice dark eye and correct ear set. Well ribbed and strong loin. Like slightly tighter front feet and to a move flowing line through from her neck and shoulders. Good rear angles and well muscled. 

PB (11,1)
1st: Howlett & Rowe’s Boloria Oh Darling. This was a nice class to judge with many puppies that had good qualities that on different days would come to the fore. I preferred this one size, make and shape and finish at the moment. Kept her balance through out. Well boned and good round arch feet. Well ribbed back and short loin with plenty of substance to her. Well made rear and moved well both ways and kept her topline. Showy girl. 
2nd: Moore & Downes’ Romanchi Night At The Opera. A little more scope To this bitch at the moment and I’m sure with some maturity and fill will reach her potential. Still has her puppy coat in but showing signs of on its way. A good clean front into a well made front assembly with some prosternum and keel. Well laid shoulder and ribs well back and sprung. Not a bad rear end, might like a touch shorter in rear hock. Moved well enough with good front foot fall. 
3rd: Paterson’s Brumberhill Biscuit At Ambiesque. 

JB (8,1)
1st: Carruthers’ Stanegate Starlene. When this one free stood herself she couldn’t help but put her feet in the right place. Feminine head and expression with a dark almond eye and good ear set, good furnishings, nice thickness to her rounded leathers. Well made front assembly with a good pro-sternum. And depth of brisket and keel. Good bone and rounded front feet well arched toes. Well laid shoulder and good strong topline. Liked her body proportions. In super order and harsh textured coat. Well condition. RCC.
2nd: Phillips’ Tendrow Carolina Reaper. A nice well balanced bitch, super harsh coat for a red. Clean long neck with slight crest, flowing through well laid shoulders, well ribbed back and a good level topline and correct tail set and carriage. Moved well both ways with good foot fall. 
3rd: Waller’s Lallybrook Royal Toast

PGB (9,1)
1st: Pughe & Fraser’s Bystock Blue Orchid. CC. A really liked this bitch full of quality. Well balanced to the eye and coming into her own. Nothing overdone throughout. Well constructed with correct body proportions. Super feminine head and expression, with a lovely almond dark eye, obliquely set. Good high ear set and used them to create that typical dachshund expression. Good straight front with bone and nice feet. Well ribbed back and sprung with a good flowing underline with a strong loin and level topline leading to a correctly set tail. Move true both ways just lost out in attitude for BOB. Good harsh coat and condition and well muscled. 
2nd: Matthews’ Sonham Twice As Nice JW. Another nicely balanced bitch not quite as clean through her neck and shoulder. Balanced make and shape, well ribbed back and well sprung. Straight front with good bone and round feet with well arched toes. A well balanced head full of femininity with a good eye and well set ear. Moved well both ways with some drive.
3rd: Graham’s Boloria Wild Spice Jw

LB (10,3)
1st: Moore & Dean’s Brontillow Canterbury Bell To Diefiur. A nice bitch to go over with lots to like about her. A clean forehand and correct front assembly. Straight front with bone in proportion, well rounded from feet with arched toes. Good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Well ribbed back with a good spring. Good depth of brisket. Correct level topline into correct tailset. A well balanced feminine head with a a dark almond eye. Well placed ears and rounded leathers hanging just to the cheek.  
2nd: Seath’s Sunsong Hopes And Dreams. I’d like a slightly longer head lacking in muzzle. Good eye and ear set. Well balanced body proportions with a good spring of rib and well back with a strong loin and level topline into correct tail set. A well constructed rear end with a good bend of stifle. Moved out well but would have liked a little tighter at the elbow. Good bone and correct feet. In good good coat and condition. Happy on the move with tail not stopping.
3rd: Parrott’s Derochaise Blue Angel At Marondera

OB (3)
1st: Rowe’s Ch Boloria Nice'n Spicy. JW. A showy feminine bitch that covers the ground with ease, a lovely open gait keeping a level topline. I’d like a slightly better front assembly as was a little wide coming towards you at the elbow. A feminine head and expression with a good dark almond eye and well set ear. Crest to the long neck. Well ribbed back and well sprung, good strong loin, with good rear angulation. Well muscled and really drives off. A real show girl and so well presented, with a good harsh texture.  
2nd: Matthews’ Wyeknot Come Fly With Me Over Sonham. A well balanced bitch with a pretty feminine head, broad enough skull with good ear set and ear leathers just touching the cheek. A clean flow through the neck and shoulder with good bone and feet. Well ribbed back into a well constructed rear assembly. However did lose her topline through her loin. Could be firmer. 
3rd: Clayton-Smith’s Cairparavel Kiss From A Rose JW

GCB (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: Howe’s Bramalodge Beeswing. A pleasing head and expression with a good dark almond eye. Good straight front with bone and rounded well arched feet. Well sprung rib and well back, and depth of brisket. A good rear construction with a correct tailset and carriage on the move. Moved well both ways with a free and easy gait. In super harsh textured coat and well presented. 
2nd: Clayton-Smith’s Cairparavel Mary Quant. A balanced girl with a straight front and good bone and feet. Good lay of shoulder and well sprung ribs and well back. Correct bend of stifle and well muscled and drove off well. Would like a little more feminine head.
